Brand History
Bajaj Auto Limited was founded on 29 November 1945 by Jamnalal Bajaj and originally operated as Bajaj Trading Corporation Private Limited. The company became a public limited company in 1960 after securing a manufacturing license from Piaggio in 1959 to produce two- and three-wheelers. Over the following decades Bajaj transitioned from a scooter-focused business to a major global player in motorcycles and auto-rickshaws.
Key milestones in the brand’s development include a shift in branding emphasis from scooters to motorcycles in 1986 and a corporate split in 2008 that allowed Bajaj Auto Ltd to retain the two-wheeler business. The company is currently led by Rajiv Bajaj as Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, continuing the legacy of the Bajaj Group.
Bajaj Logo Evolution
Mid-1970s – 2003: First Official Logo

The first official Bajaj logo was introduced in the mid-1970s and remained in use for nearly thirty years. This design combined a geometric emblem with a traditional wordmark to convey stability and authority.
- Design: Stylized letter B placed inside a vertically oriented hexagon that was horizontally divided into two equal parts
- Colors: Blue and white in the emblem with dark gray wordmark
- Changes: Hexagon frame created a balanced and symmetrical appearance
- Context: Expressed power, authority, stability, respect, loyalty and reliability during the company’s early decades as a scooter and motorcycle manufacturer
2004 – Present: Modern Logo

In 2004 Bajaj Auto unveiled a completely redesigned logo created by Elephant Design. This marked the only dramatic change in the company’s visual identity and coincided with its push toward international markets.
- Design: Stylized B created by two V-like figures positioned horizontally with crossing sides, interpreted as a flying bird or two arrows
- Colors: Retained classic blue and white palette symbolizing stability, trustworthiness, authority, loyalty and high quality
- Changes: Removed the hexagon frame, switched from lowercase to uppercase lettering and adopted a futuristic sans-serif typeface with rounded angles and diagonal cuts
- Context: The redesign reflected the company’s evolution from a traditional scooter maker to a modern, globally competitive two-wheeler brand focused on progress and innovation
The new Bajaj emblem symbolizes forward motion and dynamics while the continued use of blue and white ensures visual continuity with the previous design. This updated identity better represents the brand’s contemporary direction and remains in use today.
Bajaj logo history shows a company that maintained a consistent and recognizable visual presence for three decades before embracing a more dynamic symbol that aligns with its growth into global markets. The single major redesign in 2004 demonstrates a deliberate approach to brand evolution that preserves core values while signaling modernity.
