ZX History
The predecessor of ZX Auto was established in 1949 as the PLA Jizhong Repair Team and Automobile Repair Workshop. In 1986 the organization introduced China’s first national pickup and SUV, marking an important milestone in entering these vehicle segments. By 1991 it had become one of the earliest Chinese companies to engage in batch volume exports.
In December 1999 the entity underwent a major transformation into a joint venture company with assets of CNY 3.0 billion. This event marks the official founding of ZX Auto as a modern manufacturer. The joint venture coincided with the adoption of the current branding identity.
Further milestones include recognition in 2006 as a National Vehicle Export Base Enterprise by the Ministry of Commerce and National Development and Reform Commission. A new production base was established in Yichang in 2010. The company continued its development with the 2015 launch of GAC ZXAUTO’s first SUV model.
ZX Logo Evolution
1999 – Today: Modern Circular ZX Logo

The current ZX logo was introduced in 1999 to mark the company’s transformation into a joint venture. This design reflects the shift from a former repair workshop to a contemporary vehicle manufacturer with international ambitions. The emblem has remained in use from 1999 to the present day.
- Design: Bold circular motif featuring a stylized letter Z as the central symbol
- Colors: Metallic sheen combined with assertive green typography for the word ZXAUTO
- Changes: Created specifically for the 1999 corporate restructuring with no documented earlier variants
- Context: Represents modernity, dynamism and energy suitable for the automotive sector and aligns with the official founding of ZX Auto
The ZX symbol continues to embody the brand’s focus on durable and affordable SUVs and pickup trucks designed for challenging terrains. This ZX car logo has become the consistent visual identity across the company’s communications since the joint venture. Its clean metallic appearance gives a sense of forward-moving ethos that matches the manufacturer’s development path.
ZX logo history is directly tied to the significant corporate milestone of December 1999. The emblem effectively conveys the brand’s evolution into a modern Chinese SUV and pickup maker. Users interested in the visual identity often look for high-quality reference assets of this longstanding design.
