Dorcen Brand Overview

Dorcen, known in Chinese as Dàchéng or 大乘, was established as an automotive marque in September 2018. The brand name translates literally to Great multiply or Great vehicle. It was owned and operated by Dorcen Motor Co., Ltd. and founded by Wu Hao, who is the son of a former Zotye chief.

The company maintained production facilities in both Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces during its brief existence. Operations ended in 2021 when Dorcen filed for bankruptcy. In 2023 the brand was renamed to Docan while retaining the original Chinese name Dacheng.

Corporate Timeline

Dorcen’s corporate journey began earlier than its public launch. In 2014 Dancheng Motor Co., Ltd. was established in Jintan District, Changzhou, based on a former Zotye facility originally used for Domy-badged vehicles.

The Changzhou Jiangsu production base was completed in 2015 jointly with Zotye. Several corporate reorganizations followed, leading to the formal introduction of the Dorcen brand in 2018.

Key milestones include the completion of a second manufacturing plant in Fuzhou, Jiangxi in December 2018. The Jiangxi facilities previously served as a JMCGL plant producing pickups and minivans before coming under Dorcen control.

Dorcen Logo Evolution

Dorcen logo

The Dorcen logo was introduced alongside the marque launch in 2018 and remained in use until the company’s bankruptcy in 2021. This visual identity appeared in marketing materials including the FISITA World Mobility Summit 2019 programme.

  • Design: Two-row bilingual layout featuring both English and Chinese text combined with basic geometric elements
  • Colors: Prominent orange coloring on a transparent background
  • Changes: No known variations during the active period of the brand
  • Context: Served as the official emblem throughout the Dorcen branding period from 2018 to 2021

The Dorcen logo transparent background version proved popular for reference and archival purposes after the brand’s discontinuation. This design remains the only documented logo from the marque’s short history.

Production Facilities and Legacy

The Jiangsu plant in Jintan District, Changzhou served as a key manufacturing site, having been established in 2015 on the site of a former Zotye facility. This location focused on vehicles based on the Zotye Domy platform.

In Jiangxi province, Dorcen utilized both an existing former JMCGL facility and a newly completed industrial park. The second Fuzhou plant, officially known as the Jiangxi Dorcen Automotive Technology Industrial Park, opened in December 2018.

After Dorcen filed for bankruptcy in 2021, the former Jiangxi plant was later operated by BYD. The facilities had also been used for related Qiling badging during the Dorcen era.

Dorcen Logo History and Visual Identity

The Dorcen car logo represented the brand during its entire three-year existence in the competitive Chinese market. Created as an orange bilingual design, the emblem communicated the marque’s Chinese name alongside its English transliteration.

This Dorcen emblem featured a straightforward two-row layout that emphasized clarity and modern simplicity. The logo history is relatively brief given the company’s quick rise and fall between 2018 and 2021.

The Dorcen symbol captured the short period when the brand actively marketed vehicles before transitioning to the Docan name in 2023. Its orange color scheme and transparent background format make the Dorcen logo png and Dorcen logo hd variants useful for historical reference in automotive design archives.

The Dorcen badge appeared in official corporate communications and summit materials during the company’s active years. As part of the broader Dorcen logo evolution, this single-era design reflects the brand’s limited lifespan in the automotive sector.
