Eagle Brand History
Eagle was officially established in 1988 by Chrysler Corporation following its 1987 purchase of American Motors Corporation. The new marque served as a successor to portions of the AMC product lineup and carried forward the Eagle name from the 1980 AMC Eagle, one of the first modern crossover automobiles and the last vehicle wholly designed by the American company.
The brand was marketed toward enthusiast drivers who wanted a more European feel than typical Chrysler models. Headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Eagle operated under Chrysler until it was discontinued at the end of the 1998 model year in 1999. It remains one of Chrysler’s brief attempts to utilize assets acquired from AMC.

Eagle Logo Evolution
1988 – 1999: Original Eagle Marque Logo

The Eagle logo was introduced at the brand’s founding in 1988 and remained unchanged until the marque was discontinued in 1999. This single design served as the only visual symbol ever used by the Eagle automotive brand.
- Design: Stylized contour of a bird’s profile forming an eagle silhouette
- Colors: Monochrome black-and-white palette with white lines on solid black background
- Changes: No redesigns occurred during the brand’s existence
- Context: Created to reference both the brand name and the prior AMC Eagle vehicle line while aligning with an enthusiast European positioning
The Eagle car logo was presented within a smooth triangular crest that was horizontally extended, featuring custom modern lettering placed along the upper border. This consistent Eagle emblem reinforced the brand’s identity centered on power, freedom, and precision throughout its brief history.
Eagle logo history shows a remarkably stable visual identity with no evolution or redesigns, making the original monochrome badge the sole representation of the marque from launch to closure.
