Duesenberg Brand History
Duesenberg Motors Company was established in 1913 in Saint Paul, Minnesota by German-American brothers Frederick “Fred” Duesenberg and August “Augie” Duesenberg. The company later moved its headquarters to Indianapolis, Indiana. It operated from 1913 until 1937, focusing on high-end luxury automobiles and high-performance racing cars.
The brand earned a reputation for superior engineering and luxurious features. Its vehicles were often simply called “Duesy” and represented the pinnacle of American automotive design during that era. Production ended in 1937 due to financial difficulties caused by the Great Depression.
Today the brand’s legacy lives on through the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum in Auburn, Indiana.
Duesenberg Logo Evolution
1913–1937: Classic Duesenberg Eagle Logo

The primary Duesenberg logo was used throughout the company’s active years on vehicles and radiator emblems. This design directly reflected the brand’s engineering achievements and luxury positioning.
- Design: Golden eagle with wings spread, brand name and secondary text superimposed over the eagle’s body
- Colors: Gold for the eagle and outlines, blue for the lettering
- Changes: No major variations recorded during the operational period
- Context: Created to highlight the company’s straight-eight engine technology and prestige
The Duesenberg car logo featured a prominent golden eagle as its central visual element. This Duesenberg symbol conveyed power, prestige, and vitality through its striking composition.
“DUESENBERG” appeared in uppercase bold ornate serif font in blue with gold outline, while “STRAIGHT 8” was displayed in smaller ornate font to reference the engine design. The Duesenberg emblem was typically produced as small colorful metal plates attached to radiator grilles.
This Duesenberg logo meaning emphasized luxury, performance, and historical prestige. The focus on “STRAIGHT 8” connected directly to the engineering excellence found in the Model J and other flagship vehicles.
