Yulon History and Ownership

Yulon Motor was incorporated as a machinery company in September 1953 by Ching-Ling Yen and is owned by the Yen Family through the Yulon Group. The company operated under the romanized name Yue Loong from its founding until 1992. It became known as one of Taiwan’s “big four” automakers while focusing on licensed production of Nissan vehicles for the Taiwanese market.

In 1992 the company officially switched to the shorter “Yulon” name. This change coincided with a complete renewal of its corporate identity including the Yulon logo. The rebranding marked a modernization of the company while it continued its position as a leading Taiwanese vehicle manufacturer.

Major expansions occurred in 2009 when Yulon formed the Dongfeng Yulon joint venture with Chinese automaker Dongfeng, holding 50 percent ownership. That same year the company launched its own passenger car brand Luxgen through a subsidiary. Models under the Luxgen brand were later manufactured in China by Dongfeng Yulon at its Hangzhou plant. Yulon maintains several key subsidiaries including Yulon-Nissan Motor Co Ltd, Dongfeng Yulon, and Yulon GM, each with 50 percent ownership stakes.

This redesign formed part of a larger corporate rebranding that updated the visual identity of Taiwan’s leading automaker. All subsequent expansions including the 2009 joint venture and Luxgen launch have occurred under this branding and Yulon logo.
  • Design: Blue-colored wordmark paired with a red emblem that resembles a single stroke of paint
  • Colors: Blue wordmark and red emblem

All later developments including the Dongfeng Yulon joint venture, Luxgen brand launch, and manufacturing in China have taken place under the post-1992 Yulon emblem and identity. The Yulon logo has remained consistent since the 1992 redesign that aligned the visual symbol with the shortened company name.
