Englon Brand History
Englon was officially launched in 2010 as a wholly owned brand of Geely. The new marque replaced the Shanghai Maple brand and positioned its vehicles around British-inspired design themes. Some models, including a TX4 taxi variant, were manufactured by Geely subsidiary Shanghai LTI for the Chinese market.
The brand maintained its British styling focus from 2010 through 2013. In 2013 Geely completed the full acquisition of The London Taxi Company. That same year the Englon emblem was officially adopted as the new logo for The London Taxi Company, creating a direct link between the Chinese brand and British taxi heritage. The logo continued in use until the later rebranding to LEVC in 2017.

Englon Logo Evolution
2010–2016: Classic British Emblem Period

The Englon logo was introduced in 2010 to replace the Shanghai Maple identity and to convey classic British style.
- Design: Circular emblem with thick border, left half featuring six silver five-pointed stars of varying sizes, right half showing golden image of goddess Britannia
- Colors: Blue gradient field for stars, red gradient field for Britannia, silver stars, golden Britannia figure
- Changes: New emblem created specifically for the brand launch
- Context: Positioned Englon as successor to Shanghai Maple while emulating British heritage
This design served as the Englon car logo and Englon emblem throughout the brand’s primary years. The same visual identity became the basis for the 2013 update when transferred to The London Taxi Company.
2013–2017: London Taxi Company Adaptation

In 2013 the emblem received updates to serve as the corporate identity for The London Taxi Company after Geely’s acquisition.
- Design: Retained core circular shape and Britannia figure while changing text and border treatments
- Colors: Dark blue border with metallic silver outline, white text, adjusted blue gradient
- Changes: Border changed to dark blue with metallic silver outline, text updated from Englon to The London Taxi Company in white sans-serif font, reduced shadow on goddess figure, flatter appearance
- Context: Updated to reflect new corporate identity while preserving elements of the original Englon symbol
The modified emblem maintained the British styling claim and six stars on blue field that defined the original Englon badge. This adaptation extended the visual legacy of the Englon logo history beyond the passenger car brand into commercial taxi applications.
The Englon logo meaning centered on British tradition through the goddess Britannia holding a trident and coat of arms, combined with the six silver stars on a blue field. These elements were intended to convey elegance and premium positioning.
